Rybnik… city with development strategy
Rybnik is located halfway between two major economic centres in the region: the Upper Silesian Industrial District (Katowice agglomeration) and Karvina-Ostrava Industrial District in the Czech Republic. The economic potential of Rybnik agglomeration is strengthened by two motorways located in the immediate vicinity:
- A1 motorway (leading along the eastern border of the city), ensuring the connection of north-south axis;
- A4 motorway (leading 15 km from the northern borders of city), the connection from east to west.
Such conditions are taken into account among others in the government’s development strategy until 2030. Assumptions of the Local Spatial Development Plan combine the needs and expectations of residents and entrepreneurs with the functionality for business.
According to the regulations of the “Leipzig Charter on Sustainable European Cities” Rybnik has an impact on the creation and shape of public spaces of high quality, modernisation of the infrastructure as well as the improvement of energy efficiency, and it leads active innovation and education policy.
